Didier Mathieu:
Inside Cover [Exemples]
Inside Cover [Exemples] is a single sheet, folded and stapled by the artist to form a codex, but accessible to viewers as a book only when they themselves trim the edges. Mathieu conceived this involvement as a reference to bookbinding before mass production, when books were delivered in separate sections to customers or binders, who would then assemble the whole. The text is a collection of words, 2-7 letters long, made from the letters of the title, which refer to the personal and cultural influences on the artist's life.
