Better Homes & Gardens

My prints in Better Homes and GardensI always ask customers where they found my website or Etsy shop. Some answer, some don’t. And occasionally I get a nice surprise, as I did this week. Karla told me she saw my letterpress wood type collages in the June 2009 Better Homes & Gardens magazine. And not just one, but 3 designs and a coaster! [Sadly, they don’t mention my press name, but tell readers to “search etsy for ‘letters and numbers'”.]

  1. Congratulations. Your work is stunning and it deserves national coverage so kudos to B&G for recognizing that.

Can I rant now? What sloppy magazine stewardship on the part of Better Homes & Gardens. These people are not amateurs. They understand styling credits. They profit from your aesthetic and they can’t even credit you? How disrespectful.

  2. I was just going to email you about this! As soon as I saw that page I knew it was your work. I was so, so surprised though when I flipped to the back that BHG hadn’t credited your work in their resources list. It’s really sad that they aren’t doing more to embrace the work of great independent artists like yourself.

On a happy note the article did remind me to check out your shop again. (I have your Calmly it Goes print.) I was very excited to see you’ve added an alphabet print in my favorite color. I’m off to buy it now!
