Of Green Leaf, Bird and Flower is an exhibit at the Yale Center for British Art (on until Aug 10, 2014). The description says “This exhibition looks at the ways in which self-taught naturalists and artists recorded and observed the natural world around them from the sixteenth century to the present, examining the intersections of artistic and scientific interest.” There’s a catalogue available if you can’t get to the exhibition. And a review in the Wall Street Journal. Below is a one of the books on display, ‘Crow Landscape, Elsdon, Northumberland’ (2008) by Sarah Morpeth.
