The Gallery Book is a variation on an accordion fold book and is a great way to showcase small photos, bits of decorated paper, calligraphy, collage, or small pieces of artwork. These instructions are for a 2½”×9″ accordion book with 9 display windows.
Materials Needed
- 1 piece of text-weight paper (38″×9″)
- 2 cover boards (25/8″×9¼”) (mat board or book board)
- 2 pieces of decorative cover paper
- 9 pieces of artwork for the windows (2-1/8″×2¾”) [See here for a suggestion]
- 1 ribbon (24″)
Tools needed
- straight-edge to cut against
- glue stick or glue
- bone folder
- xacto knife
- awl or thick needle or push pin
- paper clips
- template for cutting display holes
Steps
- Print this template on cover stock and cut out along the solid lines
- Make your display window artwork
- Accordion fold the paper

A bone folder will help you make clean, crisp creases. It’s a dull edged hand tool that is made of animal bone or teflon. Holding the tool flat, run the pointed edge along a crease to make it crisp. |
