The colour lovers blog had a post the other day combining lots of card images with their history. One thing they don’t mention is how much card playing grew after the invention of the printing press, which made it easier to produce the decks. |
A point of discussion in many circles. I believe, perhaps wrongly, that there were many printing presses printing playing cards prior to 1448-52. Gutenberg’s invention was not the printing press, but movable, reusable, type.
