Letterpress Daily

For the past several weeks I’ve enjoyed reading David Wolske’s blog Letterpress Daily where he documents his continually expanding type collection. It appears to be mostly wood type, and entries are like the one below — a photo of a wood block and a resulting print plus a bit about the font. See more here.

Typeface Memory Game

Typeface Memory Game CardsAfter spending the last 10 months shoe-horning all our belongings into our new smaller home, I’m telling my family I don’t want any presents for Christmas — not even a book. But if I did, here’s one that sounds interesting… The Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the Lazy Dog, a typeface memory game. It “includes 25 variations of the letter ‘A’, each in a different letter type. Players attempt to find the matching A’s in the same letter type.” (First seen here on swissmiss.)

Ands and Thes

Typographic Elements, The and AmpersandWhile there’s lots of free clip art available on the web, much of it isn’t very useful. But I thought this set of “typographic elements” — a collection of ampersands and “the”s available from Free Fresh Creative — was pretty novel. Download a PDF here. (Although I have to admit that I can’t readily think of where I’d use one of those “The”s.)

Postertext

ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLANDThe poster to the left was created using the entire text of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (it’s 20×24″). Postertext, the company that sells it, says “hang your favorite book on the wall with the book’s text, arranged to depict a memorable scene from the book!” Among others, they have posters of Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Crime and Punishment, as well as non-books like the Linux Kernel. Check them out here.
